Me?? An Author??
Yup!

I started my writing journey on an unlikely path. After graduating from Dallas Baptist University in 2007 with a business degree in finance, I worked as a financial analyst for a few years before transitioning to follow my passion—teaching children. My spirit truly came alive as I read children’s books aloud using various character voices. I loved over-dramatizing the words on the page to captivate my students' attention. Seeing kiddos on the edge of their seats, begging me to read the next chapter, became the highlight of every day! I constantly searched for fun titles with unique stories—ones that showcased character development, plot twists, foreshadowing, and a multitude of figurative language examples that made books jump off the page for young readers.

Years later, my "author research" continued as I welcomed my first daughter, Finley Blaire, into the world. Naturally, I read to her—even as an infant—stacking up book after book as I immersed myself in my new role as a mother. Over the years, I must have read thousands of books, which sparked an idea: why not create one of my own?

My inspiration came from our beloved family puppet, Lulu. Lulu had a voice, a personality, and fun quirks that all the kids adored whenever they came over to play. My daughter would eagerly hand me Lulu, begging, "Make Lulu talk!"

The Lulu character was already well-developed—she just needed a book to tell her story and spread joy to children far and wide! Looking back, I now realize that all those books I read to my students and my daughter served as the foundation of my research—teaching me what makes a captivating and well-written children's book.

I'm beyond thrilled to show my daughters and son that with research, hard work, dedication, and a dream, they can become—or create—anything they choose!

"This is such a cute colorful book. I loved the cultural representation with different languages. The book had a sweet message and was easy to read."
